Howdy All!
My Name is Monica and Im from Rural Alberta Canada,
My Actual Carreer was Hairstyling. To date I am still dabbeling.
Its in my Blood, what can I say… Found the Photography- Hat
.several years ago when my Friend bestowed upon me her
“Retired Dinosour Pentax Camera”.. Its been a run-away
ever since.. After many Years in the Beauty Industry, you can well
imagine, it came with an instant Clientele.. My first Commission
was a Funeral ( Oh Boy)..So many more responsibilities when working
with the Public. One must remember that it’s not entirely your free Will
but you’re acting as an Ambassador for the Family.
For me personally, I believe I found a new Voice ,a new Language
That would become the Foundation, the Glue to cement my Position
In our Local Art Community.
In 2017 I created an On-line Ladies Photography Group. I capped it
At 30 Members.. Currently we have a waiting List..
By teaching and sharing with others, it challenges me to stretch
myself beyond my comfort Zone.. In some strange way, setting
an Example for others is where I find my Motivations and Enthusiasm
and continue to evolve.
Im a “ Lifer” not just a “Flash-in-the-Pan Wedding Photograher”
I want to make Folks aware that this World is filled with Incredible “ Stuff”
Big or Small, it all matters..
Photography is an universal Language and People from all over the World
are able to hear it..

When I create slideshows from my photos, I try to tell a "story" about the event or location I'm documenting. If I'm going to the trouble to create a show I usually want more than just a portfolio of images on the screen (after all that's what FaceBook, Flickr and those sites are for, and they do a decent job).
In recent years, I've gotten more interested in telling creative (fictional) stories, often attempting to be humorous. For that I've turned more to my other main hobby, amateur CGI work. You will see some of that in my shows on this site.

I have long loved photography, though I would not call myself a photographer per say. Just someone who likes the process of getting good shots and sharing them with others. I live in Kelowna British Columbia with my husband and our dog Cooper. We do winters in California with all those gorgeous landscapes. Thanks to my dear friend Madelaine who introduced me to this Digiflicker group! We have two grown sons, two lovely daugthers in law, and three wonderful grandchildren. A Blessed life!

‘Born 1955, my first contact with photography was in the early 60’s “helping” my father in the darkroom printing images for the real-estate industry. As a lad, photography was a hobby lurking in the shadows. By the mid 80's my hobby began to take on a new direction after attending a photographic competition and, coincidently, filling out an art quiz. Although neither event was particularly significant, I began to realize a creative facet within myself. After spending years working in commercial studios I was drawn to the budding world of digital; beginning with Photoshop 3.0, I could see light on the horizon, I could create images that physiologically truthful but not necessarily physically possible.
There is something about those little slices of time that people regard with reverie ... I think that is because they see a photograph as being something more realistic and everlasting than their own memories. Recently, through the aid of digitizing I explore areas where images leave the mind doubting itself just a little.
